Making Extra Virgin Handmade Olive Oil! Ancient Traditional Method
Daily life in nomadic life: Preparing dairy products in the mountains
Nomadic women in the Alborz mountains live a challenging yet rewarding life. Their daily routine involves tending to livestock and processing milk to create various dairy products. The process begins with milking the sheep and heating the milk. The heated milk is then used to make yogurt and cheese, which is further churned to produce butter and buttermilk. To make the cheese, the buttermilk is heated and yogurt is added. Once the buttermilk boils, a type of cheese suitable for winter storage is prepared. Special yeast is added to the milk to aid in the cheese-making process. After boiling, the milk is cooled, yeast is added, and the mixture is left to harden before being placed in a container. Following the dairy product preparation, the village women bake local bread and prepare a hearty evening meal using the dairy products.
