An Uncertain Future for the Kalash People of Pakistan (2003)

Pakistan - Kalash of Cultures (2003) - In a remote part of northern Pakistan, a tribe believed to be descended from Alexander the Great is facing cultural annihilation.

As animists, the Kalash Kafirs live by cultural practices which clash with those of the Muslim Pakistanis’ that surround them. Their identity is constantly undermined by their Muslim neighbours. Help comes in the form of volunteers from Greece who believe that the Kalash people are part of their own ancient history and worth preserving. New facilities are being built but such help comes at a price. ”They are building in their own way…I think they should build like Kalash,” complains villager Mohammed. Whether fact or fiction, the Kalasha realise the commercial value of their founding myth and so are keen to preserve it. However, it is their spiritual life and beliefs that they feel are under threat by the growing hostility of fundamentalists. With jobs promised to those that convert, over 6,000 have reluctantly given up their bright national dress to become Muslim. For the Kalash people, both their past and future remain uncertain.

Kalash share genetic drift with the Paleolithic Siberian hunter-gatherers and might represent an extremely drifted ancient northern Eurasian population that also contributed to European and Near Eastern ancestry. Their traditional costumes and symbolism are similar to those from Russia and Ukraine.
Their dresses and the way they set their hair looks so much like the ancient Kabyle did in north Africa. Also, the way they greet one another, kissing the forehead and the hand is exactly the same old way the Kabyle did. Another thing the design of their face tattoo. Their way of dancing holding one another in a row. Without speaking of their smile and joyfulness. I don't know, just things that stroke me immediately so much ! What to tell ? But someone somewhere should inquire about it. Mind you with the adn survey will uncover things that will astonish people so much ...

??The Hunde Valley is called the area where the Albanians of ancient Macedonia, the former warriors of Alexander the Great, would settle and live to this day. (As has often happened, in such circumstances, various scholars ì confuse these inhabitants with the Greeks, who have no connection with the Kalash tribe, nor can they have any connection with the present-day Slavo-Bulgarian Macedonians, because Alexander the Great had lived and died for over a thousand years, before any Slavic race appeared in the Balkans. The inhabitants of the area themselves claim to be the direct descendants of the warriors of the ILIRIK peninsula, at the same time denying the Greek claims that they are Greeks distant, yet the Greek government has sponsored various projects in the region, alluding, as a condition of the aid it provides, that they are Greeks, regardless of what the locals themselves claim to be. [6] Ze, Zeu = Albanian here resounding, echoing, (Zeus) the god of lightning, of thunder, of thunder, of ignition and firing than of lightning. [7] Bubullima Rock, = A high rock in the region, known as a rough place where Bubullima is unloaded and falls, whose name comes from the Albanian word of the inhabitants of the area, bubullimë, bubullima. . "Burrash" is another Illyrian-Albanian tribe that lives in an area on both sides of the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan. [9] [10] Pam (j) e-Mira. = albanian - beautiful view. "Pamira" is called today the area of the Illyrian-Albanians of Pakistan, inhabitants who believe to this day to be descendants of the army of Alexander the Great, and like all other Illyrians of Asia are considered handsome and beautiful people, known as tribe ì "Pamireve", of good-looking, handsome people.????⚘

The infidels of the Hindu Kush | DW Documentary

Where Islam is the major religion, it strongly oppress other religions.

One interesting group are the Kalash who live in the mountains of northern Pakistan. The Kalash are Caucasians and many have very European features and some even have blue eyes and blonde hair which are distinctly European genetics.  There are some historians who believe that they are the descendants of Alexander the Great who invaded the Pakistani region.  There is a video documentary below called 'Mysterious Kalash – The Untold Story.'

The other theory is that they are the descendants of wandering European tribes who settled in that region.

Geography

Kalash Valley

The Kalash are indigenous peoples in the Northern Himalayan region of the Hindu Kush Mountains of Pakistan.  They are located in the Chitral District of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan.

Language:  Their native tongue is the Kalash language which is from the Dardic family which is part of the of Indo-Iranian languages which are member of the Indo-European language.

Religion:  Pakistan Muslims are trying to convert these people to Islam and some have already converted though on a whole they are resisting.  Their current religious beliefs and customs are pre-Christian.   Kalash follow their own Religion which is made up of a single creator called ‘Dezau’ with 12 male and female gods, the major god is Mahandeo and some folks say this is the same god as Ares known as Mars by the Romans.

Address:  The men wear traditional goat-skin tunics and the women wear black reaching to the ankles. They have beautiful embroidery.

Culture:  The Kalash share similar Illyrian/Albanian roots to Hunza, Burusho and Pamir people.  They use symbols, decoration, architecture, mythology, fable, music and dance similar to these people.  They also have similar traditional costumes, customs, words and even the same dog breed!  They say it themselves, they are ancient Illyrians and look like European Albanians.
