Yemen: Land of the legendary Queen of Sheba, who met King Solomon in Jerusalem

With film shot during Wendell Phillips’ 1950 expedition and footage of the collection housed in the museum in Sana’a, this documentary is a fascinating insight into a long-gone civilization and a queen who lives on in the cultural memory of her country.

The name of the Queen of Sheba conjures a vision of eastern exoticism. There is no indisputable evidence that she ever existed, though a Bible story tells how she journeyed to Jerusalem, bearing gold and incense, to visit King Solomon and to see for herself whether tales of his great wisdom were true. The people of Yemen remain convinced that the Queen of Sheba is a historical, not a legendary, figure and that she ruled over the ancient kingdom of Saba, now part of their country, which lies in the extreme south of the Arabian peninsula.

In the past fifty years, several foreign archaeological expeditions have sought to discover more about Yemen’s enigmatic past and the Yemenites themselves are now endeavoring to repossess their heritage. The museum of the University of Sana’a, the modern-day capital of Yemen, is assembling a fine collection of artefacts that have been found during excavations around the country. But this largely desert country has been reluctant to yield up its treasures. Several excavation sites which have had to be abandoned have rapidly become covered over once more by sand.

The professor is incorrect in that Yemen is not the only Nation that claims Queen Saba as its monarch. It is a bone of contention between Yemen and Ethiopia as we Ethiopians, with a history extending beyond 3000 years also have historical sites that include her palace, similar Sabean writing, plus oral and written history that tells us our Queen travelled to Jerusalem to meet with King Solomon-and later gave birth to a son, Minelik I. Without Minelik 1there would be no Ark of the Covenant in St Mary of Zion's church in Axum. We believe her empire was extensive, based in Axum but extending east, across the red sea to include Yemen and what is now Saudi Arabia, to the west as far as Nigeria. Considering the physical resemblance Yemenis, Ethiopians and the Nubians in Egypt share, I believe we were once part of one great empire presided over by Queen Saba/Makeda.

Queen of Sheba if she even existed (Bible has many mythical stories mixed with some historical events) was from Yemen, the Sabaean or later Himyarite Kingdoms. Ethiopians like Tigrayans are West Asian admixed from Neolithic North Africans/Levantines as well as more "recently" from Southern Arabians. "Kumar, H R S et al. (2020), showed that Tigray samples from Northern Ethiopia had (~50%) of a genetic component shared with Europeans and Middle Eastern Populations."

Yemen was originally Eden...the eastern portion of the Ancient Axumite Empire..one of the ancient Ethiopian civilisations before it took its current Arabic shape and culture following the downfall of the Axumite Empire and the subsequent raids by the Bedouins..there are still remnants of the old culture and people in the Southern tip of the country who are strikingly Abyssinians / Ethiopians
Even Ethiopian was ruled by Yemen Queen and then ruled by Yemen kings, also the Yemen language still using in Ethiopia.
It is interesting how many ancient civilizations there were in Yemen, including Christian and Jewish.
Interesting i looking at the people of Yemen they look like me. I am not Yemeni but they have my skin color and looks. South Yemen i see the people are darker skin some also look like East Africans. So there is a mix race in Yemen. Queen of Saba looks like she was a woman of color more like brown.

Ethiopia and yemen were one country in past even language and inscription the language is southern arabic , we share alot of the past ?????? Sheba is ancient yemeni kingdom , not ethiopean ethiopean inscriptions mentioned axum kingdom not sheba , but axum attacked yemen and conquered arabia for years, there's no inscriptions about sheba in ethiopia , jewish Turah says queen of tyman (yemen )) , you can come to yemen and ethiopia read the ancient inscriptions , sheba civilization , kings of sheba like ((wahbeil malak saba )) wahbeil king of sheba , his statue is now in Sana'a museum
According to Ashraf Ezzat, the Egyptian writer, King Solomon;s temple ruins are also in Yemen. And, Yemen is the original home of the Semitic Jews.
Yemen is mixed between african and arabian people... that is why some of them have curl hair.
This is the black and Arabian crossroads Melting pot.
Yemen was once a jewish kingdom in the middle east.abu kariba was a devote jew that he burned christians in pits, thus he became known as the king of the burning pits.
The Queen name was BILQIS Queen of Sheba ie Saba ,she was sabaen Queen ,she build a biggest Dam and her statues and inscriptions were identical from MARIB YEMEN, She was a Queen of Ethiopia and Yemen at the same time ,Both were very close to Axum and Yemen Radfan which stands pillars identical ,

Queen of Sheba - Behind the Myth 'DOCUMENTARY'

The Real Queen of Sheba (Documentary)

Queen Bilques was her name
her kingdom was named Sheba (Saba). Today the names “Saba and Bilgis” are still common female names in Yemen.
Some of her remains of her palace still stands in Marib,Yemen. She was a beautiful queen who ruled her country with integrity and justice.
Yemen was a wealthy nation during her rule.
Prophet King Suleiman heard about her and her kingdom but was distressed to hear that she and her kingdom were praying to the Sun.
He sent a letter to her to believe in the 1 God Almighty and to invite her to his palace. The day she visited him in his palace she was puzzled in seeing her palace in front of her eyes.
During her days in the palace she noticed he was a different kind of king; a profound king.
He preached to her about about the belief in the 1 God. She then became a believer of the 1 God.
Later when she returned to Yemen and she preached to the people to believe in the 1 God.
Later in time she probably married prophet king Suleiman (PBUH). The only thing important about her encountering prophet Solomon is that he enlightened her about the 1 God.
Prophet Solomon was not Jewish; which wrongly states in some holy books. He was only a prophet, (like his father prophet Daoud PBUH; David) who was a believer of the 1 God. (Sheba, Saba); Bilquese and King Suluimom were not Jewish they were believers of the 1 God. The word Jewish came hundreds of years later during the time of prophet Moses (PBUH). His followers named themselves “Jews”, Moses did not name his followers as “Jews”. During Isa (Jesus) time, people of his followers named themselves “Christians”. Jesus did not name his followers “Christians”. No where in the original Christian Bible mention Christianity/Christians.
During prophet Mohamed PBUH; he nor his followers gave themselves name “Mohamedism” or etc. They were “Muslims” An Arabic word means “a person/people that submits” to the 1 God; that created the heavens and earth.
Both Arabic and the Aramaic language; thatJesus(Issa) spoke are sister language, meaning very similar to one another Islam is a continuation of Judaism and Christianity but, unfortunately Christians and Jews do not know .
God sent the Quran on earth 1400 years ago but, “Islam” was their since the day Adam PBUH was created by God.
The Quran till today was not changed by adding/deleting any verses by their followers. It’s the same authentic teachings till today.
Christian’s and Jewish people do not want to believe that the Quran is a continuation of the Abrahamic religious holy books, actually it’s the last revelation holy book of all Abrahamic religious books.
It came to revert the people of Mecca/Medina and the areas surroundings which were mostly idol worshipers, pagans and atheists. In the Quran it precisely states:
1-The coming of Jesus, he will tell the Christians during his coming that he never claimed divinity, he’s not the son of God and God never reincarnated himself into him ; as many Christian’s believes. In Islam Jesus is believe to be a prophet.
2- Jesus is the Messiah. In Judaism they deny that Jesus is the Messiah.
3-God will bring Jesus on earth, to kill the Antichrist.
4-Jesus will rule the world with justice/peace for about 40 years.

King Solomon

The theory that King Solomon was actually a black or 'mixed race' man is one that has gained popularity on the internet over recent times.  People really like to stretch their imaginations with some of these ancient historical figures even though the majority of literature, history, and science clearly shows otherwise!

Who is King Solomon

Considered the wisest of men due to God granting him the gifts of knowledge, understanding, and wealth.  He is most well known for his accomplishments in building the first temple on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem as well as majestic palaces, gardens, public buildings, and roads.  He secured peace with his neighbors and was the wealthiest of leaders in his time.

Alongside his great public works projects, he is credited with writing the book of Proverbs, the book of Ecclesiastes and the Song of Solomon.

Perhaps less well known, was his fall from the grace of god through materialism, wealth and the deadly sin of 'lust'.  King Solomon is recorded to have 700 wives and 300 concubines most of which were foreigners and eventually lured Solomon into the worship of false gods and idols.

Who Were King Solomon's Parents

"I go the way of all the earth. You shall be strong, therefore, and show yourself a man, and keep the charge of the Lord your God to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes and His commandments and His testimonies. As it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn." (1 King 2:2-3)

Song of Solomon 1King James Version (KJV)

Woman (Queen of Sheba) says:

1 The song of songs, which is Solomon's.
2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine.
3 Because of the savor of thy good ointments, thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee.
4 Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.
5 I am black but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon.
6 Look not upon me, because I am black because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother's children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards, but my own vineyard have I not kept.
7 Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?

Man says:

8 If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock and feed thy kids beside the shepherds' tents.
9 I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh's chariots.
10 Thy cheeks are comely with rows of jewels, thy neck with chains of gold.

Woman says:

11 We will make thee borders of gold with studs of silver.
12 While the king sitteth at his table, my spikenard sendeth forth the smell thereof.
13 A bundle of myrrh is my well-beloved unto me; he shall lie all night betwixt my breasts.
14 My beloved is unto me as a cluster of camphire in the vineyards of Engedi.
15 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes.
16 Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant: also our bed is green.
17 The beams of our house are cedar and our rafters of fir.

21st Century Song of Solomon 5 King James Version (KJV)

5 I am come into my garden, my sister, my spouse: I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk: eat, O friends; drink, yea, drink abundantly, O beloved.
2 I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew and my locks with the drops of the night.
3 I have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? I have washed my feet; how shall I defile them?
4 My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were moved for him.
5 I rose up to open to my beloved, and my hands dropped with myrrh, and my fingers with sweet-smelling myrrh, upon the handles of the lock.
6 I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.
7 The watchmen that went about the city found me, they smote me, they wounded me; the keepers of the walls took away my veil from me.
8 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if ye find my beloved, that ye tell him, that I am sick of love.
9 What is thy beloved more than another beloved, O thou fairest among women? what is thy beloved more than another beloved, that thou dost so charge us?
10 My beloved is white and ruddy, the chiefest among ten thousand.
11 His head is the most fine gold, his locks are bushy and black as a raven.
12 His eyes are as the eyes of doves by the rivers of waters, washed with milk, and fitly set.
13 His cheeks are as a bed of spices, as sweet flowers: his lips like lilies, dropping sweet smelling myrrh.
14 His hands are as gold rings set with the beryl: his belly is as bright ivory overlaid with sapphires.
15 His legs are as pillars of marble, set upon sockets of fine gold: his countenance is as Lebanon, excellent as the cedars.
16 His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.

The song of songs, which is Solomon's.

Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine.

Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee.

Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.

I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon.

Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother's children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.

If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, and feed thy kids beside the shepherds' tents.

I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh's chariots.

10 Thy cheeks are comely with rows of jewels, thy neck with chains of gold.

11 We will make thee borders of gold with studs of silver.

12 While the king sitteth at his table, my spikenard sendeth forth the smell thereof.
