A horrible GENOCIDE was committed in Haiti against white people, men, women and children led by Dessalines in 1804 and in 1805 a totally racist Constitution was made against the few white people who were alive after the genocide.

In this episode of Vlogs Of History we cover The Haitian Revolution. This was the only colonial revolution to successfully abolish slavery and gain its independence from France. It was a very violent revolution and involved a lot of angry slaves who had had enough of the horrible working conditions of Haiti's sugar plantations.

"They killed every white man that they found" WRONG. They didn't killed German and Pole soldiers who defected the French army to support the Haitian cause. And these peoples are white. Also, in the first constitution white widows and European soldiers who fought for Haiti were granted citizenship and considered "neg" (black). The Haitian revolution wasn't whites v.s. blacks or the first "race war" as the alt-right depicts. The Haitian Revolution was rather the oppressed against the oppressor.

You should have mentioned the debt that France put on Haiti to recognize them as a nation and lift the European embargo

This is certainly the most detailed and interesting video I've seen on Haiti independence. One aspect I would like to correct on the aspect of the debt. It was paid from 1825 until 1888, with interruptions from 1852. Haiti was occupied by the US from 1915 until 1934. Most of the economy of the country was under US control, the local currency linked to the dollars in 1922, all expenses and revenues under direct US administration (and benefit), customs were even under US control until 1946.
