The Amish are a religious and culture community that represents on how a success community operates.
They are preserving their culture and customs and every 20 years their population doubles.

The Amish (/ˈɑːmɪʃ/; Pennsylvania German: Amisch, German: Amische) are a group of traditionalist Christian church fellowships with Swiss German Anabaptist origins. They are closely related to, but distinct from, Mennonite churches. The Amish are known for simple living, plain dress, and reluctance to adopt many conveniences of modern technology.Wikipedia

The Amish are known for simple living, plain dress, and reluctance to adopt many conveniences of modern technology. The history of the Amish church began with a schism in Switzerland within a group of Swiss and Alsatian Anabaptists in 1693 led by Jakob Ammann. Those who followed Ammann became known as Amish.

"Having children, raising them, and socialization with neighbors and relatives are the greatest functions of the Amish family. Amish believe large families are a blessing from God.[1] The main purposes of "family" can be illustrated within the Amish culture in a variety of ways. The family has authority over the individual throughout life. Loyalties to parents, grandparents, and other relatives may change over time but they will never cease. A church district is measured by the number of families (households), rather than by the number of baptized persons.[2] Families take turns hosting the biweekly preaching service. Parents stress their responsibilities and obligations for the correct nurture of their children. They consider themselves accountable to the Lord for the spiritual welfare of their children." Amish Wikipedia."

The children are allowed to enter mainstream society but over 80% of the children return and stay within the Amish community and way of life.

The Amish are a community collective, they come together and help each other in many endeavors such as the construct of barns, hosting churche services, looking after the elderly.
They don’t live in shanties, the divorce rate is non-existent and the people have strong structured family and gender roles.
They also live peacefully with very low to no crime and don't believe in fighting in the military or any type of conflicts.

Amish agriculture can't compete against modern farming as they use pre-industrial technology for their farming and everyday living.
Recently due to the expanding population in their limited space of land and lack of funds to purchase more land a few groups have accepted the use of simple kerosene motors to help boost their productively and expand into other business ventures
  include bakeries, furniture wood working.

Even though they don’t make a lot much money they are a self sustaining and happy people with little to none of the modern stresses that plague mainstream people today.

Amish Survive clip

The Amish survive by working harder than everybody else and believing in God and family. That's family with both mother and father, with the father in charge, like its supposed to be.

There are issues in every society but the Amish seem to overcome just about everything. I completely respect and admire them. They are proof that diversity is not a strength. When people have common morals and goals and beliefs, they are more willing to help their neighbors and sacrifice for their community. When people have different beliefs and goals they are less likely to go out of their way to help someone. This is the main reason that the Amish are not only maintaining their communities, but they are growing their communities. They have grown tremendously in the past century and are continuing to grow even while faced with the temptations of the modern world. Diversity is not a strength. Likemindedness and common beliefs and goals are what make people strong and united more than anything else. It is also what makes people more successful on the whole.

Lancaster County, PA is the breadbasket of the Mid Atlantic with all the bountiful farms and countryside. It is also the home of the Amish people. We visited with the chief tour guide of the county, took a ride on his carriage and learned a great deal about their way of life

The Amist schools are one room school, 1st through 8th grades, one teacher.

Amish do not want anyone to take their photograph.

Amish call non Amish the "English".

The Amish have telephones. They have phones in sheds hundreds of feet from their homes.

I heard that the Amish don't pay real estate taxes income taxes and the Bishop holds all the money and they buy land collectively ?

I think the fact that the Amish hardly ever get cancer speaks volumes about their way of life. If people took the time to learn how to live more simply, I think the world would be a better place. I don't know about becoming Amish but they certainly have a lot to teach the people of today.

Ohio Amish Barn Raising - May 13th, 2014 in 3 Minutes and 30 seconds

This is amazing! No generators humming, saws screaming, no drills whining, just the sound of man powered tools! These barns are held together better than any quick build building anywhere. It will stand for years! Teamwork, friendship, and vision are wonderful and powerful things when they come together for a common cause! I envy these folks in many ways! I plan to use this as a sermon illustration. If God's people put their heads, hearts, and hands together amazing feats can be accomplished! Thanks for sharing! By the way, this is exactly the kind of things our children need to see!

Their religion allows people to leave and set up colonies. There is a certain democracy in it which is missing in other fundamentality groups so that is better.

Silo Filling

Silo filling is a very different type of load on a steam engine. The entire bundle of corn stalks is fed into the cutter, including the ears. Cutting the stalks is much easier than cutting through the ears, thus the engine governor gets a continuous workout as each ear reaches the cutting blades, or several ears hit at once. The engine "talks".

 Modern Farmers Silo Filling

Big Tractor Power follows the process of filling a Harvestore silo with corn silage using dump trucks. This video features chopping corn with a John Deere 7230R tractor, John Deere 3975 forage harvester, Dion F64 rotary corn head and a United Farm Tools 4205 Dump Wagon. Watch the UFT Dump Wagon unload 8 tons of silage into International Dump trucks. See the corn hauled to the silo where a Balers 1610 silage table unloads the dump trucks and fills the silo through a New Holland F62B forage blower. When the 90 ft Harvestore is full the video showers how the equipment is moved from one silo to the next.
