 Alexei and Vassili are Komi, one of the most ancient indigenous people of Siberia. They live with their wives and children close to the Arctic Circle and are the last reindeer herders of this region. Every autumn, in order to feed their animals, they cross the Urals into Asia to escape the intense Siberian winters.

The four-month trip is long and perilous for these families and their 5,000 reindeer.

The director and his crew followed the family during the two major annual migrations. They captured an authentic portrayal of this impressive, harsh existence that is in perfect symbiosis with nature.

Komi people belong to the Finnish group but those who hear the Russian language keep dead the Komi language too, a fascinating people and brave as the Finnish people! Such small peoples groups in the world are humanity's wealth but the Russian don't accept other people want to keep their language and culture. Much respect to this people.

Why no feminism here ? Why are komi women sitting on their asses in warm tents while their men toil in harsh freezing conditions herding tough animals like reindeer? Why no equal division of labours? why not women go herding one day and men sit and have warm meals in comfortable tents? why only men have to go herd?
